Leg Muscles

The muscles in our legs enable us to walk upright, run, jump and kick. The leg muscles are divided into four groups; the quadriceps, calf, hamstrings, and adductors.

The quadriceps are located on the front of the thigh. The calf muscles are located on the rear of the lower leg. The hamstrings are located on the back of the thigh, and the adductor's muscles are located on the inner thigh.

The majority of the leg muscles are attached to the bones by tendons. These can withstand a large amount of pressure and therefore help us to hold our weight up.
