Recovery is a process that allows the body to restore itself from strenuous activity or injury.  In the context of exercise, it takes place both during and after exercise depending on what you are doing at the time.  

If you are not allowing your muscles sufficient time for recovery, you will not see benefits from exercise or your rehabilitation efforts.

It is important to note that benefits are not realized by those who do not properly care for their bodies. This includes getting enough sleep and eating an appropriately nutritious diet.

Strenuous activity should also take place around three times a week in order to avoid injury caused by the overuse of muscles.
