Joints are the areas where two bones meet. They are very important as they allow our bodies to move in many different ways. There are many different types of joints in the human body, including:

  • Ball and socket joints: these allow for a wide range of movement, and are found in the hips and shoulders.
  • Hinge joints: these allow for back-and-forth movement, and are found in the elbows and knees.
  • Pivot joints: these allow for twisting movements, and are found in the neck.

Joints are held together by ligaments, which are tough bands of tissue that connect bones to each other. Without joints, we would not be able to move our bodies in the way that we do. They are essential for everyday movement.
