Dr. Dowd is a highly qualified Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, with expertise in integrative holistic medicine and certification in both adult and pediatric rheumatology.

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1983, he went on to earn his medical degree at the esteemed University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston four years later.

After graduating from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Dr. Dowd continued his training with a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency program at the State University of New York in Buffalo. In 1991, he was appointed chief medical resident at Erie County Medical Center.

After completing a specialized training program in adult and pediatric rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital located in Dallas, TX, he is highly qualified to treat patients with rheumatic diseases.

In 1993, the American College of Rheumatology praised Dr. Dowd for his superantigen research and awarded him a prestigious Physician-Scientist Development Award.

In 1997, Dr. Dowd created the Arthritis Institute of Michigan and has since become a renowned figure in media for his expertise on vitamin D. In addition to being featured multiple times on radio, television, and in print outlets, he is passionate about educating local communities through lectures and seminars.

Drawing from over two decades of research and practice, his book The Vitamin D Cure is based on first-hand experience.
