When an injury or condition causes pain in the neck area, it is called neck pain. This type of pain is often characterized by stiffness, tingling radiating down arms, and/or numbness in extremities.

Neck pain can be caused by a combination of factors, including poor posture while sitting or sleeping, muscle strain during physical activity, whiplash caused by car accidents that cause the bones in the neck to move past their normal range of motion too quickly.

Treatment for neck pain depends on the severity and root cause of your neck pain. Regular exercise and therapy can help prevent the area from becoming too stiff and reduce muscle spasms that often cause neck pain.
