Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of berries from the Coffee plant.

The genus Coffea is native to tropical Africa (specifically having its origin in Ethiopia and Sudan) and Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, and Réunion in the Indian Ocean.

Coffee plants are now cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in the equatorial regions of the Americas, Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. The two most commonly grown are C. arabica and C. robusta.

Once ripe, coffee berries are picked, processed, and dried. Dried coffee seeds (referred to as "beans") are roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavor.

Roasted beans are ground and then brewed with near-boiling water to produce the beverage known as coffee.

Coffee is slightly acidic and can have a stimulating effect on humans because of its caffeine content. Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world, with over 2 billion cups consumed each day.

There are many health benefits associated with coffee consumption. Studies have shown that coffee drinkers have a lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and cancer. Coffee is also a good source of antioxidants, which can help protect against cellular damage.

Despite the many health benefits associated with coffee consumption, there are also some risks. Coffee is a diuretic, which means it can cause dehydration if consumed in large quantities.

Coffee also contains caffeine, when consumed in large quantities it can be addictive and lead to insomnia, anxiety, and restlessness.
