Flexibility & Balance
Flexibility is the range of motion that one has in their joint (hips, knees, ankles) and muscles (hamstrings, quads). Balance is the body's ability to stay upright while stationary or moving. Although these benefits may seem unimportant in daily life, they are vital for maintaining an active lifestyle.
If someone has a better range of motion, they can do more activities without pain, and without as much fear of injury. Balance is necessary to simply stay upright while stationary or moving.
The benefits of balance are particularly important for preventing falls, which can lead to serious injuries in older adults.
