AMPK
AMPK is an enzyme that plays a vital role in metabolism. It is responsible for sensing the energy levels in cells and regulating them accordingly.
When energy levels are low, AMPK is activated and works to increase the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the molecule that provides cells with energy. This ensures that cells have enough energy to function properly.
AMPK regulates appetite and food intake, which can impact the development of obesity and type II diabetes. Therefore, AMPK plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy metabolism and body weight.
AMPK is a key regulator of cellular energy homeostasis that is activated by increases in the AMP: ATP ratio. When energy levels are low, AMPK is activated and stimulates ATP-generating pathways while inhibiting ATP-consuming processes.
